What is PET?
Polyethylene terephthalate or PET, is the most common thermoplastic polymer resin of the polyester family. The material has a felt-like finish and is porous in nature which makes it ideal for acoustic treatment, sound absorption, heat, and thermal insulation.
Our PET Panels are manufactured from post-consumer recycled plastic bottles, diverted from landfills, and have a large threshold of reutilization. Our 24mm panels are made from 80 bottles per sqare meter, while our 12mm panels are made from 52 bottles per square meter.

Why PET?
The Noise Reduction Coefficient (NRC) is a measure of how much sound an acoustic panel can absorb. It affects the overall sound quality and comfort of a space. At Aurhum, we specialize in creating acoustic panels that have high NRC ratings, ensuring optimal sound control and creating a peaceful environment.
1
Low VOCs
PET has low Volatile Indoor Compound (VOC) Emissions, making it ideal for indoor and closed environments.
2
Better IAQs
PET’s ventilating capabilities allow for better water and Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) and is better for our health.
3
Environmentally Friendly
PET boards use 70% less energy and 60% less water compared to other acoustic material.
4
Longevity
PET boards are washable and can stand a great extent of wear and tear.
5
Flexible Noise Reduction Coefficient
PET is highly customizable, allowing us to control our panel’s NRC to suit the needs of your space.
The Science of Acoustics
To create a better acoustical environment and reduce reverberation time in a room, our acoustic solutions are developed to perform on one or more of the following acoustic principles.
Absorption
Sound Waves are absorbed by any acoustically soft material they encounter.Sound is energy, and in order to stop this energy from propagating, absorptive panels must be used to convert this energy into heat through friction.
Attenuation
Reducing the sound transfer within a room.In order to reduce the sound transfer between different spaces, vertical elements will be applied to cut down sound energy.
Diffusion
Sound energy is spread evenly in a space.Wavelengths, which can’t be absorbed through acoustic treatment, will dissipate evenly back into the room, ensuring a better spread while maintaining a live, vivid sound.
Craftsmanship at its finest
At Aurhum, we use two main manufacturing methods to process our PET Acoustic panels.
Cutting Design
This uses a CNC machine to cut shapes, grooves, and engravings in the board. This is a more widely used method of manufacturing and is easier to do.
Thermoforming
This is when the board is put between a mold and then sculpted into a 3D shape. This process is rare and unique and allows for significant customizations.
